Hi, I’m Kari.

Kari du Plessis, PhD, sitting at her desk with a laptop, holding a cup of beverage with a lime slice.

I’m PhD-qualified molecular biologist turned naturopathic health practitioner, passionate about helping women regain control of their hormones, energy, and well-being.

For years, I struggled with weight fluctuations and hormonal imbalances, all while juggling the demands of family, career, and personal health. I was also diagnosed with ADHD late in life, so I harbour a deep understanding of how profoundly our hormones, brain chemistry, and lifestyle choices influence our well-being—not to mention the harmful self-talk, guilt, and sense of failure that often come with these struggles.

Determined to transform my own health, I immersed myself in naturopathic healing, functional medicine, and evidence-based nutrition. Now, I combine my scientific expertise with holistic approaches to help other women navigate PCOS, perimenopause, weight challenges, and fertility issues—without restrictive diets or endless frustration.

I learned it

As a molecular biologist with a PhD, I’ve spent years studying how biological systems function—from the way our hormones communicate to how our genes respond to their environment.

Science has made one thing clear: our health isn’t just written in our DNA—it’s shaped by our lifestyle, environment, and daily choices. This concept, known as epigenetics, means that while we may have genetic predispositions to certain conditions (like insulin resistance or PCOS), we are not powerless.

Through my research, I’ve learned how food, stress, sleep, movement, and even our thoughts influence our genes and metabolism. This deep understanding of biochemistry, physiology, and genetics is the foundation of my consulting approach—I don’t just follow trends; I help women make evidence-based, sustainable changes that work with their bodies, not against them.

I live it

Science gave me the knowledge, but real-life experience made it personal.

I live on a small farm in Stellenbosch with my husband and two kids, where I grow organic fruit and vegetables and embrace a simple lifestyle approach to support our health and wellness. I’ve battled with weight struggles, hormonal imbalances, and ADHD, so I understand first-hand how overwhelming it can be to navigate these challenges while trying to show up for yourself, your family, and your career.

That’s why my consultation programs aren’t just about science—it’s about real life.

I don’t believe in restrictive diets, guilt, or perfection. Instead, I focus on small, impactful changes that make you feel better, stronger, and more in control of your body.
